What kind of camera should I get?

I’ve planned a trip to Alaska and am toying with the idea of buying a new camera for the trip. I’m currently carrying a Cannon Powershot G3 but, I find it to be a little bit bulky for adventuring.
On the other hand, I also paint Miniature figurines. I’d like the capabilities of being able to take great photos of those as well. I’m fairly inexperienced when it comes to photography knowledge, but I need a camera that has great macro capabilities, can allow for the adjustment of shutter speed, can take great outdoor photos of mountains and glaciers, and can fit in a smallish pocket.
Please help me find a good camera, as I’m not exactly sure where to start. Price range is up to the $200 ish range.
